graduated with a BA degree in Archaeology from the University of York in 1987, followed by an MA degree from the University of Birmingham in 1997.

His archaeological career began with the Museum of London after which he gained supervisorial and managerial experience with the Milton Keynes Archaeology Unit and the Bedfordshire County Archaeological Service.

He spent ten years as Contracts Manager with Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd, before founding Icknield Archaeology Ltd with Jonathan Hunn in early 2014.

He has extensive experience of commercial archaeology and heritage management and has submitted heritage assessments and fieldwork reports to clients in both the public and private sectors.

He has also worked extensively in Bulgaria and Greece (British School at Athens).

He serves as a trustee of the Buckingham Heritage Trust and has been a full member (MCIFA) of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists since 2001.
