St Mary's Church, Puttenham

Observations were made during the course of reducing the ground within the church of St Mary’s , Puttenham, Hertfordshire prior to the installation of under-floor heating. Although the depth of disturbance was relatively modest, it did provide an opportunity to examine the composition of the walls and the base of the stone columns of the central arcades of the nave. The floor of the church will be raised in order to level it with the porch and outside ground levels. Where the pipe-work came into the church a finely cut stone coffin was exposed.
