During refurbishment and extension to 19 Church Street, Bovingdon, Hertfordshire a possible ditch or large pit partly filled with clunch and a single architectural fragment were discovered. These finds may have been derived from an ecclesiastical building. This feature was later followed by a modest brick built cottage which appears to have had a chalk floor. A mortar lined cistern was also discovered close to the existing 19th century dwelling.
